I think I'm done with the whole car thing now. I've had some nice cars over the years as many of us have. I'm getting to a stage in life now where it's difficult to maintain them physically and too expensive to pay someone else to do it.

Well this was a little unexpected. I sent the pictures of the sump pan up to mackies just to see if they thought it was repairable, just to get a feel for it really. This was there reply.

Looks like bushings are still available but not something I'm gonna be able to do. It could of course just be the torque converter or oil pump bushes but it's a big risk to strip it down on the drive to find out it's something deeper. Car would then be completely immobile. At least now if I just put ...

I am familiar with the smell of burnt transmission fluid and what came out was fine. This just looks to me like too much bronze (if that's what the bushes are made from).
