Well this was a little unexpected. I sent the pictures of the sump pan up to mackies just to see if they thought it was repairable, just to get a feel for it really. This was there reply.
Hello.
Sorry for the delay in replying, I have spoken with the transmission build manager and unfortunately ...

Re: Gearbox failure at 90,000mls
Looks like bushings are still available but not something I'm gonna be able to do. It could of course just be the torque converter or oil pump bushes but it's a big risk to strip it down on the drive to find out it's something deeper. Car would then be completely immobile. At least now if I just put ...

Re: Gearbox failure at 90,000mls
Thanks once again for the quick reply MJ, really appreciate it.

Re: Gearbox failure at 90,000mls
I would appreciate some opinions please.
I removed the gearbox sump pan to inspect the valve block and also to see what shrapnel might be in there. I can't see any shrapnel and I used my prostate camera to inspect the valve body and can't see any evidence of it being cracked. It is just about ...

Re: Gearbox toast
It's no longer available but luckily I have a good used one. Apparently it's such a common issue that Ericsson offer a repair service on an exchange basis.
I really am clutching at straws her but if it's not this then the gearbox will have to come out. At 60 years old and spending over 40 years as ...

Re: Gearbox toast
Mine is still stood on the drive waiting for me to decide what to do about it's gearbox problem. It's a really tough call. Nice car, gets lots of attention from delivery drivers etc even parked up. I feel like I would like to be driving it but at £6k repair it just makes no sense. Plus the other ...
