Re: 50 Shades of Yellow
ECU box is not in the greatest of shape.
Upon opening, there was already some rain water pooling inside: Of course, all the threded inserts were seized solid so i had to drill the bolts out which was a pain with my baby drill: Then, I installed new inserts in the bottom half of the enclosure, and also greased them with some lithium grease: The new cover that was sent was in no better shape then the old one, so i decided to use the foam seal from the new lid on the old one which had a fracture in a much less critical spot.
I firstly had to take care of the crack with a very strong acetone glue: And then, seal it up with windscreen adhesive: This is just a temporary repair till I can source a new cover, and the oversize washer is there to help with the gluing process.
The crack in the picture goes right across the screw hole :/
More to follow...

Re: 50 Shades of Yellow
Nope.
Not even a Google reverse image search found anything on that 3D print of a D2 part.
But I'll have two guesses....
1. something to do with the underside of the handbrake trim.
2. something else

Re: 50 Shades of Yellow
Eh?
It was the underside of the handbrake trim where it always breaks off??
If so, then I can't believe I got that right.

Re: 50 Shades of Yellow
When taking off the scuttle for botang's hole, one of its securing tabs detached.
In the pic below you can see that it was a friday job at the factory, because only 2 out of 4 pegs have been melted (badly) to secure it:
So i pulled out my trusty gas solder iron with the 'melty' attachment: All done: Meanwhile, i found another bodge on the car. This time Electrical:

Re: 50 Shades of Yellow
Wet mirror relay was easy, just swapped it for a good one after i made sure there was no further water ingress after fixing botang's hole:
I then sprayed the mechanism with WD40 which only made a tiny difference, but still won't allow the button to depress, so I think a whole new selector will solve the issue.. Shame I found this out now, It would have been much easier to swap when i had the transmission tunnel trims apart.
The gear selector button will not depress after pressing it, so i replaced the knob which made no difference.I then sprayed the mechanism with WD40 which only made a tiny difference, but still won't allow the button to depress, so I think a whole new selector will solve the issue.. Re: 50 Shades of Yellow
Is it looking like this yet???
If not, then I hope this image provides inspiration. It's my favourite image of a D2.
