Help Finding a NSF Hub Assembly

Post by AGAR »

Hi guys,

new to the forum, but a relatively long term A8 owner now having owned my FL 2.8 Sport since 2021. I tried to join the A8 parts forum a number of times but never seemed to get my account approved by admin for some strange reason?!

Anyway, I am looking for an OSF hub assembly for my year 2000 2.8 Sport (FWD). The part number is: 4D0407257M. I believe this might be the same as what is fitted to S8's as its the aluminium version, whereas other hub assemblies are steel. See example here: https://www.prestigemotorservices.co.uk ... 88777.html

I've already tried Prestige Motor Services and they don't have one. There is one on eBay in Germany but its around £300 plus import tax.

I've messaged the few others on eBay who are breaking D2's at the moment, and none of them have the correct part.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rich

Hello Rich,

There are two (sort of three) different aluminium hub assemblies / uprights on the Facelift D2s, and two different steel types as well, being for either HP2 brakes on A8s (axial mounting, 2 piston sliding caliper) or the Brembos on most S8s (radial mounting, 4 piston fixed caliper). Most came with alloy, but the ones that came with 20" had the steel version with a larger wheel bearing. There's an odd alloy upright on the first 500 facelift cars which takes prefacelift brakes, but those are vanishingly rare so we can ignore them,

A 2000 A8 will have the alloy upright for HP2s. I likely have one on the shelf, so I will have a look when I am in the workshop on Monday.

Hi Mikki Jayne,

excellent info as ever from you. Thanks very much and I look forward to hearing from you once you've had a look on your shelf on Monday. It'll be a god send if you have one as I am in real need of one since my current one has cracked :(

Thanks,

Rich
