Gearbox service time

I have contacted Liqui Moly and await a reply on a nearer approved service center, so see what happens there. The gearbox shifts fine apart from a little hesitation sometimes when lifting off upon going downhill (gentle nudge is felt).

Electro chap came round. It's electro mechanical interference, bad ground somewhere. Nothing mechanical wrong.

Hopefully a scan will point out where. Next step.

Just a quick point on the cost of a ZF gearbox service. I have had at least 6 done on my S8 at Mackies, south of Glasgow. The last one, in September 2023, cost £185 plus VAT. My car has over 200K miles on the original gearbox; I’m convinced the regular services have contributed to this.

If I’m not staying with friends or family in the area, I go up the night before, stay in a Premier Inn (or similar) 10 minutes walk away and pop it into Mackies to cool off overnight so they can start work first thing. It’s then ready to collect by lunchtime.

Well. I finally found a company called CCM in Ewhurst who were happy to help. Full dynamic flush with ZF long life with filter change. Not cheap but I am happy with the result.

The car feels a lot more responsive and the gearbox, whilst was really good shifting, is even better. Feels like an even newer car. For me it was money well spent.

The garage i was going to use is called 'CAR-POL' and looking at their facebook page they have done numerous dynamic oil replacements on luxury vehicles. The only problem is they are in Gloucester. They are a certified liqui moly center and have a geartronic machine.

They quoted me £500 which is a lot. The DIYer in me went on ebay and found a diy machine:

Just saw the link for the the machine you posted. I might look into getting one of these with the amount of transmission services I've been doing lately. I need to do a bit of research to see roughly how much extra fluid is needed for the complete transfer to see if costs are viable to offer to customers.

IIRC its about 20 litres for a flush, so full drum of Mannol AG52. Not terrible. I looked in to it when I was still working on them but 95% of the work I did was engine-out major services, so I could just flip the box over and work on it out of the car. There may be a market from D2 owners for this since Mackies don't seem interested any more.
