There were many advantages of RNSe. A larger, higher resolution colour screen, modern maps, full postcode navigation, mp3 playback, more modern looks while still being OE, reverse camera, easier integration with other stuff. Unfortunately map updates ceased a couple of years ago, rendering it fairly pointless vs a dash-mounted phone which can do everything better other than looking nice. They went from being £400-800 when they had maps to being <£100 pretty much overnight and now there's very little point going to all the effort of retrofitting them
I have an Audi-styled Chinesium Android unit in mine, but its rather flaky so I use the phone via bluetooth for music and nav. The only thing the HU does is present controls in the dash, reverse cam, and TPMS for trackdays.
