Actually, a second look tells me it's not the gasket. It's really not going in easy though. Something seems out of whack. I know there hard to line up, but it's like it lines up then won't drop in

Something inside isn't attached properly. I think it's where the in tank assembly meets the filler

Sorted it. The issue was that the plastic assembly in the tank was too far to the left for the pump housing to get into it. I'm surprised it isn't fixed down better, but I suppose once the pump assembly is in place, it is.

One thing I have to note for those interested... The cheaper pump I installed (due to lack of availability of the continental) works fine and will likely just not run quite as long, but what i did notice is it's significantly louder. You don't have to put your ear near it to know it's running!

I ran it for 20 minutes, turned on and off few times and she was sweet the whole time. Didn't need to prime either. I'll run her to work for the next few days and make sure everything's good.

Thank you everyone for your help, as always. I'll see you all in the next installment......

Reversing sensors!

(Also fitted some wild card springs which I'll let you guys know about when there's more miles on them. But, so far, I'm pleasantly surprised!)

Glad you figured it out. They can be a real pain when the in-tank gear gets loose. Its hooked on to the tank up the top, but you can't see it without a mirror in the hole.

Which pump did you use, out of interest?

You figured it out, MJ! I was chasing my tail

I stuck my hand in after reading the procedure manual and it saying to check that connection at the top. Was driving me potty. My assumption was that the stuff in the tank was rock solid. Every day's a school day.

I went with a Lemark. The SKV ESEN one didn't have the correct fitment which was a shame. We'll see how it does. I'll let you know if any issues arise.
