Wipers

So it seems my S8 is determined to stay with me

Wipers have decided to die. It's not the relay. Replaced with a brand new one. Not the fuse.

I've tried two units as far as the motor goes. One of which was defo working when I took it off (not to say it hasn't ceased in the meantime, but it has been indoors). I noticed the torx screws on the motor housing as I'm writing this so I'll probably have it to bits in 5 minutes. Any advice welcome on that front as imagine they're not easy to come by.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the motor end so I can get the multimeter on it tomorrow if dismantling proves fruitless?

Have a look in the Electrics secion of the forums. I've uploaded some PDF's there.
IIRC Mercedes W202 motor can be had for cheap new, and fits the D2 rack

Fabulous. Thank you, Ronin! I've found a Febi 22690. Does that sound right? I'll measure up the mounting points and see if they match. It definitely looks like it could fit.

Yes i think thats the one. It's also worth greasing the rack itself to make sure it won't kill the new motor.

Already done. It was my first attempt at at a remedy. God loves one

Great. I'll get one ordered. Thank you!

You need the left hand drive W202 motor IIRC. Both W202 and D2 have mirrored motors for LHD and RHD, and they're mirrored to each other so LHD W202 = RHD D2 and vice versa, *probably*.
I have one on the shelf to try, physically its close but I didn't work out the wiring yet.

Ah, ok. Have you actually offered it up? Looks like that's a Febi 22688 from some preliminary ebaying.

Is the unit you've got there a Febi?

Mine is from Maxgear. Part number 57-0033 brings up plenty of results on ebay.

The only difference is the length of the mounting bosses. I don't know if it'll go together with them like this or if it'll need them cutting down, but shortening them isn't difficult. A 3D-printed shortening guide would be pretty simple to make.

Wiring colours are different as well of course. It'll need some tinkering to work out what goes where. The D2 connector uses a fairly generic male latching spade terminal so it should be feasible to just crimp these on to the new motor wiring and re-use the D2 connector housing.
