Can anyone shed light on the engine mount sensor?

Just curiosity :D

Its a solenoid valve. The mount has an air-filled void inside it. With the valve open, the engine is supported solely by the rubber, but with the valve closed it then also has an air spring enclosed in the rubber thus increasing its effective stiffness. A simple way to make variable strength engine mounts.

Consider us lucky we have these simple air-filled jobs. The D4 has active hydraulic engine and gearbox mounts, and needs a dedicated computer just for the mounts  Just... no

And with that one post, he decided to never consider the purchase of a D4.
