Re: S8 transmission service

Drove on the motorway this morning. Gear changes are silky smooth, it’s totally transformed how the car feels. Link to a YouTube short below :D

It’s a Blueprint kit I bought from eBay as Audi haven’t offered the filter for years. Link below

Re: S8 transmission service

Had to wipe the dirko off. Turns out the black rubber gasket is correct for for 5HP24A. Just completed the service and the high pitched whine has now gone. Shifting seemed nice and smooth too. Some Vids of the service are on my IG link for a day.
I use a pressure filler attached to the drain plug ...

They quoted me £500 which is ...

Re: S8 transmission service

Third time lucky, the correct filter arrived. It’s a Blueprint part number ADBP210060. I got excited when I saw the rubber sump gasket but then realised it’s completely wrong, no idea which car it’s for. I have a green paper gasket but it’s got a rip in it. Would a dab of silicone be ok on it?

Re: Oil recommendations

Funny you guys mention Mannol 7715. That’s the main oil I bulk order so will stick to that. Thanks.

Oil recommendations

Which oil are you running on these old beasts? I'll be servicing the S8 in the coming days and was wondering if there is any benefit in running different oil such as Millers etc. Mine has just over 200k on the clock. I've noticed a slight rattle for a second on startup before oil pressure builds ...

Re: S8 transmission service

You’re right, I’m not going to risk it. I’ve ordered another filter, third time lucky (hopefully)
