Thanks MJ, that's very useful :ugeek: Just had a quick play and it's the soft pipe on the left side.
If I pinch that hard the lock doesn't move while pressing the remote buttons but does immediately if I then release it, so there's no big leak.
Operating the system with the boot open I can hear ...

Re: Central locking, bodywork or electrics, pump running for 20 seconds!
Thanks, though I don't know enough about how it works in detail to start looking for symptoms/issues.
I know there's an air pump, but is it increased or decreased air pressure or both?
e.g. I can envisage two pipes to each lock, one for open, one for lock OR a single pipe with blow for open and suck ...

Central locking, bodywork or electrics, pump running for 20 seconds!
That's it really, don't use the car very often and unlocking today I could hear the pump running for maybe 20 seconds?
Locking is fairly quick.
Unlock/lock a few times and it's quicker, so I'm assuming a small leak "somewhere".
Where do I start?

Replacing/refitting lower door outside strips - tips.
Having done this a few times now, and forgotten exactly how, I thought I'd document a few useful tips.
I somehow regularly manage to catch the rear lower edge of the drivers door and pop the end of the black bottom trim off its fixings. Just did it again recently and fixed it today, so here goes ...

Re: Greetings from the Netherlands
How many variations are there? I always thought Gullideckels were this (slightly different) version:

Re: Greetings from the Netherlands
Welcome and a very nice looking A8. 8-) I think there are people here who would be very interested in the fog light grille solution, is that the one-piece version and which side as I don't think they are exact mirrors?

Re: Weird door lock/handle behaviour
Thanks. Did a little test today: unlocked car, opened another door (to get something), shut and locked car.
Unlocked again and tried suspect NSR door - it opened fine. Does this give any clue as to what might be "sticking"?
(And yes, one event doesn't prove a lot, I'll repeat after a few days)

Re: Boot Light Switch
In my experience the boot lights go out anyway after a minute or two, so as MJ says there may be another fault.
Meanwhile take the bulbs out!

Re: VCDS doesn’t work properly on newer Audis
Indeed, I've occasionally tried to help my neighbours to diagnose issues with their VAG cars and while her old Polo is fine, their newer Audi Q3 is a waste of time.
Somewhere I've got a really old registered copy that I occasionally consider for a trade-in, but most people I know with newer VAG cars ...
