what about using a relay? maybe leakage current of that switched ignition intended for bose is too much for the converter and the amp?

I like the sound of that however could you dumb it down for me please . Electrics and associated terminology isn't my strong point so i t can take me a while wrapping my head around what needs doing. What sort of relay am I looking at and am I right in thinking to put it on the said switched live going into the Bose amp? I've just had the Headunit back out too just incase there was anything glaringly obvious there but there are literally no cut or exposed wires there as I used everything plug and play.

You get a 5.99 relay from halfords:

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/tools ... 25494.html

connect ground from bose connector to pin 86 of relay
connect constant 12v from bose connector to pin 30 of relay
connect switched ignition from bose connector to pin 85
connect pin 87 of relay to aftermarket amp's trigger input.

This way you get no residual current and relay will 100% switch off with ginition off. If it doesn't you have a fault.

Thank you, thank you. Just to confirm, pin 87 going to the subs remote turn on which is currently connected directly to the Bose switched live ?

Correct although ultimately I would connect it to that adapter you bought as well (so relay output 87 going out to amp and adapter) to avoid speaker pops which will damage them over time. For testing purposes amp itself is enough.

the adapter is using the same switched live so easier doing it in one go. Thanks again, I'll post progress once its done

Just to support what Ronin has described (I also mentioned the possibility of relays earlier) I've used relays quite a lot in my S8 to manage additional kit, though most of it has been removed now.

At one stage I had extra audio and video inputs (including XCarlink, digital TV and reversing camera) and used several relays to control the power supplies and automate switching of inputs. It's all pretty simple and logical, though if you're not into electrics (it's not really electronics, just powered switches) it might appear confusing.
(Only extra I have now is a reversing camera and that doesn't need a relay, I just use the reversing light power supply)
