Yeah feel free to link the listing(s) in the Parts for Sale section.

I find the solar roof on a black car just disappears, since the panel is so dark. Thats the most stealthy colour to install it in I think :D What don't you like about it?

You can list anything you want in the for sale section.
We also have someone who professionally sources parts from Germany, including audi tradition ;)

Fantastic news on the parts front! I'm going to try and break my donor next weekend, keep the bits I foresee needing and get the rest up. I thought no one had replied, but I had to look on..... the second page! I'm a card carrying luddite, so even navigating forums is difficult.

Heart break on the MOT front..... Took it through (hours drive cos I'm way out in the sticks), all fine and dandy and just as I pulled up the airbag light came on! Foolishly hadn't brought my reader, so didn't even know where to look. Turns out it's an '01217 resistance too high - drivers side', so I'm going to have a poke about under the seat now. Booked back in for Monday. Why do they always wait til you're there??

I'm still on the fence with the solar thing. I do see your point about the blending in. I'll only really know if I install, I guess. I like the look on the grey and burgundy colours, but I can't remember seeing one on black. Maybe cos they blend so well, ha! I'm not sure if putting the solar on is worth not having the money from selling the sunroof. I'm right in thinking it trickle charges the battery and kicks the air con in on hot days and that's about it right?

The solar roof doesn't do anything with the battery. All it does is run the blower fan to keep air moving through the car, although it does make a noticeable difference on hot days.

Bummer about the airbag code :(

Ah, as nice as that would be, I live in Cumbria. Hot days not a problem  I think I'll just flog it.

Airbag light off :D Was just a neglected plug

Actually, on that subject, there's a spare black connector with a brown and a black wire in the loom that seems to have no place in the new seat. Not something I've come across before. Does anyone know if this is seat heating? And if it is, can I rob the heater from another set of seats and install without being an upholsterer? I don't know the history of these seats as they came from the famous Stockton on Tees a very long time ago, but I held onto them as they're amazing condition, knowing one day my miss matched seating dream would come to fruition.

No. It needs specialist skills and tools to swap seat parts. The heating mats are bonded to the seat foam. Stripping them down is difficult enough. Putting them back together doubly so.

IIRC the spare black connector, if its a little one with thin wires, is for the seatbelt warning which we don't have in UK models, but still seemed to be included in some RHD wiring harnesses. The seat heating is in one of the two 12-pin connectors, can't remember which.

All UK market sports Recaro seats should be heated as far as I know. I've never seen Recaros without heating.

I've swapped to standard A8 seat because I LOVE them. Got 2 good sets of sports sitting in the garage. Just not keen. The ones in there aren't manual or anything though, so I'd be shocked if they didn't have the elements. Put then on full whack the other day and usually I'd be cooking. Couldn't feel anything so thought that might be it, but what you said about the seatbelt warning sounds like the one. I'll try again and leave it longer. I'll also check fuses.

I think I'm in for disappointment here, but....

Motor in the headrests are making noise, but headrests not moving. Is there a fix or will I have to just live with it?

There is a fix for the headrests. You have to shorten the bowden cable between the motor and the lifting mech by about 10mm and this will fix it for ever. It's the same kind of system that flexible dremel shafts use, except audi decided to make theirs too long for the flex shaft inside.
Removing the crimp is a bit of a pita but doable and the fix lasts for ever.

Heating is relatively rare in the A8 standard seats. I'd say at best you have a 50/50 chance of them having the elements fitted. I would suggest checking the wiring in the seat-side connectors and seeing if you have the connections for it. We probably have the wiring diagrams on the forum, if not I can upload them.
