Put some fuel in to prime the housing. She fired up. I stuck my head in the boot and as she started to splutter, I heard the howl.

So is my next move to pull the housing and check everything? I'm asking the question because it's my least favourite job and I'm trying to avoid it

I'll post when I've got it out...
So something is causing the bowl not to fill then and the pump isn't able to fill it for itself with the return. 3/4 of a tank really ought to be plenty to fill it from the top though, thats weird.

You could try another 20L, but its making removal more and more unpleasant as there is more fuel in there.

I thinking to chuck more in. It'll almost certainly run. Then if it gets down to 3/4 and dies, i know where I'm looking. If it doesn't die then i can only assume that something needed priming that wasn't getting done at 3/4. Maybe there's a sticky sender unit and it's not actually at 3/4? If the cup doesn't fill when it's full up then it can only be assumed that it's haunted

Actually, on second thoughts, maybe I should pull the housing? Seems silly driving around waiting for it to inevitably die :/

Also found the 18" S8 center caps are dual purpose.

I think I've figured the reason this all happened, but i need to confirm.....

I think the wobbly semi circle gasket from the old housing may still be attached to the fitting in the tank!!

When i look down into the tank, i shouldn't see the same shaped piece of metal down there, right???

Don't want to fish it out then find it is supposed to be there

Yeah. I had a spare housing, so I'd already built the one that went in. Didn't look on the old one! That'd explain why the o ring popped out. It took me aaaaages to line up when i was putting it in. I just have been so tenacious i just worked it loose lol. The annoying part it i don't have my magnets here
