Sad times. She has to go.....

Post by Rightthen »

Unfortunately, due to an unexpected change in circumstance I have to find my S8 a new home.

I'm offering it to the forum because I would rather it goes to someone with the appropriate sympathies. If there's no takers I'll finish the minor work and put it up for general sale with usual 'appreciating classic' bollox in the advert and £1500 more on the price. Be quick if you're interested, because I'll be finishing the rest of the work next weekend.

I'll start with the bad (because I'm such a good salesman, lol)....

Jobs still to do.....
Headlight level sensors
Parking sensors
Pad wear sensor (loads of meat left on pad)
Paint is average. Presents generally well, but has some chips, the odd bumper scuff and a tiny bit of lacquer peel on the bonnet
Subframes are super solid, but if I kept it, I'd get them powder coated as they're starting to scab. I have a spare set, but we'll get to that in a minute.

Recent work (the good stuff)

4 brand new Michelin Primacy S
Wheel bearings
Disks and pads
Fuel pump, filter, reg and all o rings in the housing
Brand new 100ah Exide battery.
TA Technix springs, which are surprisingly good. Or at least vastly better than I expected. I'll be posting a review at some point
Tracking getting done next week
You've the choice between original all singing, dancing tv/nav/Bose hifi, or the incredible sounding aftermarket one I put in
Clocks are perfect
I run it with lovely A8 flat seats, BUT I have an immaculate set of black S8 seats which I'm sure you'll all prefer.
Interior is blue/walnut with black leather. Only grumble is the headlining is not as perfect as the rest of it, but it's acceptable
2 months MOT left but happy to put one on as it's only done 2k miles since the last one and I'm certain it will sail through.
Always serviced inc gearbox oil when appropriate by local VAG specialist. Haven't really bothered with paperwork in my tenure as I did most of the work myself and it was never my plan to sell.

175,000 on the clock and no current sign of gearbox misbehaviour.

I'm looking for £4500. You're very welcome to come and view. I'm in Cumbria.

Message or call 07440 100 817

BONUS OFFER......

I have a rolling chassis with engine and gearbox still in, plus parts that amount to a full A8 4.2 FL with very high spec, plus A LOT of extra parts on top of that I've accumulated over the last 10 years. A word of warning, though... if you're planning to restore the A8 it would not be for the faint hearted. It was rather butchered and neglected when I bought it. The engine and gearbox do work perfectly. I think it has around 110k on the clock. You can have the car and all the parts for an extra £500. If you broke and sold you could probably pay for the car! I will not sell these separately from the S8.

PS. Has been garaged all my tenure.

I know. It's been a couple of sleepless nights, but I just can't figure out a way to keep her. I'm really hoping there's a good home out there.
