Found a company online offering a repair with 1 year warranty, inclduding collection and delivery for £140. Brand new (refurb) Lucas/Bosch etc Is coming in at just under £400 on trade.
Is there a write up on whats involved with the rebuild? I've never actually rebuilt one myself, always thought the warranty was worth it
Be aware a lot of sellers list the V6 and V8 as the same part - they are not, although they are similar. The rear cover and pulley are both different between V6 and V8, however both parts are interchangeable so you can make a V8 one from a V6 by swapping bits from the broken one.

Repair for £140 with warranty is decent value though.

Yeah I was on ETKA the other day trying to cross reference part numbers and supersedes etc. I'm going to go with the refurb. Theres a place round the corner from me but recently they've been a bit hit and miss with which units they can/can't rebuild. Until then, I'm back in the MK4 Golf V5 as a daily
