Great test, Marcin. Are these bulbs interchangeable? Ivan a 2002 S8 with xenon plus headlights and I’d love to improve night vision if possible.

It's pointless fitting any kind of new bulbs to 20 year old xenon plus with a cracked and yellowed diffuser, its like trying to revive someone who's been dead for many years no matter what bulb you fit.
Getting xenon headlights is the way to go, they are 100% interchangeable with Xenon Plus, light output is many times better right off the start (comparing 20+ year old x+ and x) and they can also be fully refurbished by having the lens reflector and the main reflector re-silvered. If you ever take your car abroad, they also have the toggles inside to switch the beam pattern to European roads. Even halogens are better than Xenon + sorry but that is just a fact. However if you compared brand new halogens, x+ and x, x+ would probably come out on top but the diffuser would yellow after few years and xenons would be number 1 again.
That's what I've done and arrived at for the best solution, having tested and stripped apart all D2 headlights.

This discussion takes me back almost 25 years to my first S8 which had been some sort of press car or demonstrator at the UK launch in the last millennium, so was VERY well appointed.
It had Xenon dipped lights and normal incandescent main beams IIRC. It was very early so the Xenon ballasts were sort of "bolted on" (badly) and got in the way of anything you wanted to do in the headlight area. BUT it did have the left/right toggle switch which was very handy on a trip to Le Mans.
The guy I bought it from had a job involving a LOT of driving around Europe and he had "adjusted" the lighting so that for "normal" use he drove with sidelights and foglights on, which was actually adequate. The foglights were in the main cluster (not low as in facelift) and I think he'd updated the bulbs.
For "main beam" he would use the Xenons, he reckoned they were SO BRIGHT they beat the standard main beam hands down, your comments suggest he was right.
Obviously when I bought it at around 3 years old I had to readjust the lighting back to standard UK settings for MOT etc. and being driven mostly in UK.
PS He also had it "mildly chipped" to remove the 250kph limit and make some minor adjustments to the ECU and maybe TCU. He reckoned he got up to 175mph on the Autobahn.
