This is a charging issue and i bet your junction box is all rotten and not making a connection.

I'm going to have a look next dry day. I've never wished to see rot on a car, so much

Have you checked the battery junction box located behid front driver side wheel arch liner?

So, I've got the front drivers arch liner off, and can't spot a jct box anywhere.?

Well the plastic box fell apart into 3 bits, but the terminals don't actually seem in bad shape. I'd be surprised if they were the problem

Was defo worth a go. I'll wd40 and try it again. I reckon the issue might be in the smaller wiring. I'll post when i find it. Won't be today though

Even if it looks ok from the outside, cleaning all the terminals will help, sometimes corrosion gets in such a way that you can't see it unless you take it all apart, sometimes it will only happen when its cold and so on.. new junction boxes may be on ebay or audi tradition

I took the terminals apart and they were all clean inside. Gave them another clean but problem isn't there. Taken friday and sat off to get right into it. Post when i get to the bottom of it

Ok, so.... Decided to change the fuel filter even though i know it wasn't all that long ago since it was done. It started, ran perfectly for around 6 seconds then died (as has been the case since the issue started). Sounds mad, but it's almost like it gets to "have a rest" it'll run for a short time then just turn with the odd splutter. It feels like fuel but I'm fairly convinced it's getting plenty at the rail. Can someone answer me this (because I'm just over thinking now) when you turn the ignition, before you actually start the car, should the battery light go off? It goes off when you make the final turn, but not before.
