Hi guys, nice to find a forum for the D2, thanks for posting manuals and info. I'm a Brit living in the Netherlands and have recently bought a 2002 4.2 in Aqua Blue (LY5X). Here are photos of her on 18" Avus summer wheels and the original 17" gullideckels with winter tyres.
Mechanical stuff: She's got good service history and, by Dutch standards, hasn't done too many miles (225k kms) so is in generally good order. I unfortunately discovered very worn cam chain sliders when replacing the weeping valve cover seals so I'm in the process of trying to replace these without taking the whole car apart! I have already done the gearbox oil and filter and can unfortunately also not find a record of the oil cooler pipe being replaced so suspect that this will also need doing soon. Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and take the front off, daunting though that seems...
Best wishes,
Harvey

Re: Greetings from the Netherlands
PS I had to 3D print a fog light grille that the car was missing so if anybody needs the STL file I can share it
Re: Greetings from the Netherlands
Welcome and a very nice looking A8.
I think there are people here who would be very interested in the fog light grille solution, is that the one-piece version and which side as I don't think they are exact mirrors?
I lent my spare pair to a well-known member here many moons ago for potential scanning for 3D printing but I don't think that got anywhere so I hope he still has them!

Welcome
Those 17" gullideckels are super-rare over here!
I looked in to printing the fog light grilles but it never seemed worth the effort as a commercial venture since the originals are still available from Tradition at fairly sensible prices. I think there are a fair few 3D models of them kicking about now though. Feel free to share the file if it's suitably licenced.

Last time I checked I think Neil still had my spare grilles, is he on here?
Re: Greetings from the Netherlands
I have put a message in the correct forum offering the file, unfortunately it is 30mb so I cannot attach it directly to the post. The file is the LHS one (4D0853635A) but I reversed this to make the RHS version and it fits perfectly. 3D printing is obviously not as nice as original bu Audi Tradition are now showing these as NLA and secondhand are getting hard to find. So do look after you grilles...
Yes the small gullideckels are also rare here, not generally the most popular option but I like the less sporty look. I may also sell the 18 inch Avus and swap the summer tyres over to 17 inch parabols to make it look a bit more classic. After all its not an S8 so shouldnt be pretending!
