This should make the car drivable and save you from working in the cold.

Thank you. I'll give it a go. Just replacing some o-rings would be far preferable!

They were, but there don't appear to be any genuine VDO / Continental units left, at least not that I can find from the usual sources.
Having spoken to a friend in the motor trade, the easily available options of Lemark, Lucas and Intermotor are all chinesium garbage and to be avoided, as is the Magnetti Marelli. I think the only option we have now may be the Esen SKV which I believe is made in Poland.
I've no personal experience of this unit, but I've used Esen SKV parts before and have no complaints, and I'd trust something made in Poland a lot more than anything made in China. I will have to use one of these when I get my murple back up and running.
